Phylicia Hopkins is an Assistant Principal at Hancock Middle School and has served as an Assistant Principal since August 2021. She holds a B.S. in Education and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Leadership, both from the University of Southern Mississippi. She began her career teaching 4th grade for the Bay-Waveland School District during the 2012-2013 school year. Two years later, she continued her career at Hancock Middle School, teaching special education before moving into administration. The 2022-2023 school year will be Phylicia’s eleventh year in education.

Phylicia, her husband Matthew, and their four children live in Hancock County. She aspired to remain in Hancock County and raise her children where she grew up and attended school. Their oldest daughter attends Hancock High School, their two middle daughters attend Hancock North Central, and their son attends Hancock STARS Prek. As a Hancock alumni, the education she received and the influential teachers along the way helped mold her into the educator she is today.

Phylicia is proud of the opportunity to give back to the Hancock County community and looks forward to guiding students through their educational journey at Hancock Middle School.
